Port St. Joe
Port St. Joe is the perfect blend of southern charm and coastal lifestyle. You get that small town feel but with all the modern conveniences of a "bigger" city. It is a historic city, as the state constitution was signed here in 1838. In fact, Port St. Joe almost became the state capital.
The city rests along the shores of St. Joseph's Bay and is well-known for the scallops that can be harvested from the bay from July 1 – Sept 10. People come from far and wide to partake in scallop season. The Annual St. Joe Bay Scallop Festival, usually held in August, draws huge crowds and big name entertainment.
The Port St. Joe Marina is always a hub-bub of action with an on-site restaurant and the annual Kid's Win Fishing Tournament. Reid Avenue, in the city's downtown district, boasts an eclectic mix of boutiques, antique shops and restaurants. April thru November, locals and visitors can buy fresh produce at the Salt Air Farmer's Market at City Commons Park also in downtown.
In 2012, Sacred Heart on the Gulf opened providing quality medical and emergency services to the residents of Gulf, Franklin and Bay counties. Sacred Heart has been a welcomed addition to the community.
Port St. Joe has really evolved the past several years. While the city has made numerous beautification improvements the main draw to Port St. Joe is the residents and their love for this growing city.
